It’s that time of year where fashion and fun join forces to give you the hottest fashion show this side of Fashion Week! Next Friday the 26th of September THE BLOCK TO SHOP presents our fall fashion show at Vinyl Nightclub (10736 Jasper Avenue) hosted by Shannon Tyler. There will be dancing, fashion, free drinks and a great after party with resident DJ Mike Tomas!

It’s also your chance to be a philanthropist…each ticket sold goes to the breakfast program at St. Alphonsus Edmonton’s only inner city school. This charity feeds kids kindergarten to grade 9 breakfast each morning so they can concentrate on their studies instead of their empty stomach!

Edmonton (May 26, 2008): The Block to Shop, the collective clothing store network between 102 Ave and Jasper Avenue on 124^th Street south, is proud to announce a summer fashion show at Vinyl Lounge (10736 Jasper Avenue) Tuesday June 4, 2008 at 7pm in support of the Edmonton Humane Society.

Bringing together the welfare of animals and the excitement of fashion, the show will see models strutting hot summer fashions from dynamic clothiers including TK Clothing, KAJ, Floc, Yo Mama, Caprice and Ginger. Tickets are available at each participating store and at the door the night of the show for $20.

The fashion show will showcase up-and-coming trends in everything from high fashion for tall women to cute couture for soon-to-be moms. “It’s a great collection of clothing for men and women of all types,” says Tamara Baltzan, owner of TK Clothing. “Not only do the proceeds go to the Edmonton Humane Society – a cause which is dear to the hearts of all Block to Shop business owners – but the show also provides an opportunity to scope out hot new fashion trends for the summer season.”

The Block to Shop is a collection of entrepreneurial clothing store owners with a vested interest in promoting the 124^th Street promenade as a shopping destination. With a variety of fashions for every age, body type and fashion eye, the Block to Shop offers a variety of clothing alternatives.

The store owners themselves are even breaking the mould of traditional competitive business models: the Block to Shop stores are a supportive network of business-minded women who hold a vested interest in not only ensuring the success of their neighbours, but also in promoting the Block to Shop as a unique, walkable shopping district.

The origami shirts sell out in 2 to 3 days so we’ve made sure to double our order. They come in a variety of colours, black and brown being the most popular. They also come in short and long sleeve versions, although I prefer the long sleeve because they can be made into a halter for holidays. Great for a wedding over a cute black dress or it just works as a great “go to” shirt, grab one while supplies last!
In long sleeve we have black, brown, grey, turquoise, khaki, ivory and sky blue. In short sleeve we have black, brown, navy, pistachio and papaya colours.
